Apple Vs. Samsung: Apple Calls Samsung A "Blatant" Imitator

Where Previously Samsung Was Just A Copyist, Now They're Blatantly Imitating Apple, Says Apple In New Court Docs

The Apple lawyers must never need to sleep. Either that or there are a lot of them, because while we hear about lawsuits constantly either going into our coming out from Apple, now we’ve got word of stepped-up language in the ongoing saga of Samsung Vs. Apple.

You’ll remember not so long ago, Apple hauled Samsung up on charges of imitation between the Nexus S and the iPhone 4, as well as the iPad and the Galaxy Tab, following up on its charges by demanding to see the new lineup of Samsung gear ahead of schedule. Samsung fought back by making the same demand of Apple, which Apple called “harassment”, and that brings us to where we are today, with a fresh volley going out from Apple saying that Samsung “blatantly imitate(d)” the Apple product line with its earlier releases.

The new complaint, which Apple reportedly filed today just ahead of a new round of court hearings (which are expected to come out later today), adds names to the previous list of product Apple was calling copyright infringement items, including the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II, as well as the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Apple refers to Samsung in the complain as “even bolder” than the other firms that made some products that looked like iOS hardware, and that they were better described to “blatantly imitate” the Apple line.

Going to be a difficult case, I’d say–we’re talking about form factor here, and when you get right down to it form factor is just a function of basic geometry. It’s going to be interesting to see whether Apple can succeed here, especially in light of the fact that we’re talking about aesthetics here for the most part, an extremely subjective field under normal circumstances.

So what do you guys think? Does Apple have a case, or is Samsung fending off a nuisance lawsuit geared as a proxy attack on Android? Either way, the comments section waits for you below, so head on in and check it out!

Although I like Samsung products I think they are copying the Apple’s designs.

    2. Bear in mind, though, that Samsung is already a significant Apple supplier. How much of Apple’s look is Samsung engineering?

    3. Harley says:

^- None. Aesthetic design and software user interface has nothing to do with “WHO” supplies the parts inside the phone. This is nothing new by Samsung, they have been ripping off designs forever now.
