Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Release Date June 17, in the USA

Samsung Finally Ready to Sell Its 10.1-inch Honeycomb Tablet to U.S. Android-loving Crowds; Pricing Start at $499

While some Galaxy Tab 7 (successor of the original 7-inch Galaxy Tab tablet) rumors have started swirling the Internets, we’ll focus on the real thing today, which is the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android Honeycomb tablet, or the next device that will attempt to take a hit at the iPad in the following weeks

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 also happens to Samsung’s second take at designing an iPad-like, or better said, an iPad 2-like tablet, since the South Korean giant was forced to scrape the first version, launched at MWC this year, and have it replaced with a slimmer, cheaper design.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 (the current format) has been announced at CTIA 2011, and it’s finally ready to hit U.S. stores starting with June 17. Samsung officially reminded everybody that “the world’s thinnest mobile tablet” is coming to nationwide stores tomorrow, 9 days after it started selling exclusively at Best Buy Union Square Store in New York City.

We talked about the Galaxy Tab 10.1 a bunch of times, and by now potential customers already know what the device will have to offer. In case you’re still undecided whether to purchase the tablet or wait for something better, we’ll remind you what you can expect from this model:

  • 10.1-inch touchscreen display
  • WXGA 1,280 x 800 resolution
  • NVIDA Tegra 1GHz dual-core application processor
  • 16/32GB memory
  • Thickness: 8.7mm
  • Weight: 565g
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n
  • 3-megapixel camera
  • 2-megapixel front-facing camera
  • Android 3.1 Honeycomb with TouchWiz UX on top
  • Adobe Flash support
  • Samsung Media Hub, Readers Hub & Social Hub support
  • 7,000mAh battery

As you can imagine we’re only talking about the Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab 10.1 model for now as the 3G (and maybe 4G) version will only arrive later down the road. And, as you can imagine, pricing starts at $499 for the 16GB model while the 32GB Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will sell for $599. Anyone storming the stores tomorrow in search of a Galaxy Tab 10.1?
