Fujitsu's New Flip Phone Is For People With Sensitive Noses
You know, I’ve never been out somewhere and have someone tell me: “Gosh, sir, your phone reeks like a thousand wildebeests rutting in a rusted junkyard.”. Maybe people today are too polite to tell you when your cell phone’s odor offends, but the folks out at Fujitsu want to head off such embarrassing faux pas with your phone by offering up a phone that offers a pleasant aroma standard: the F-022.

Now, lest you think I’ve gone off the wagon, the Fujitsu F-022 is a flip phone that offers up a lot of the standard features you’d expect to find on a flip phone, including an eight megapixel camera that comes with a pupil tracking mode as well as the “beautiful skin” mode that lets you modify all those little imperfections right out of your skin, at least in the pictures it takes. It’s even water and dust resistant to surprising degrees.
But this phone was clearly designed for looks, as you can see above. It boasts a block of two karat cubic zirconia, as well as a “detachable fragrance chip”, as I mentioned in the headline. What this thing does is it allows you to spray the chip with your favorite fragrance of choice, and then, (and the press material wasn’t exactly clear on this one), the chip likely warms up thus vaporizing your fragrance and keeping it constantly smelling nice for some while.
I’ve seen a lot of phones and I’ve seen them do a lot of things, but smelling nice isn’t exactly tops on anyone’s spec sheet. Still though, for the deeply, deeply fashion conscious (and I’m sure we all know someone like that), they’re probably already looking into getting their hands on one of these. The down side here is they’ll only be available in China starting June 24th, with no word on wider market expansion.
So what do you guys think? Are there plenty of people out there who’d like a pleasant-smelling phone experience like the Fujitsu F-022? Or is this an example of truly pointless hardware? Hit the comments section below to tell us if this phone passes your sniff test!
