The iPad 2 jailbreak is certainly one of the most expected tricks of this modern day and age so grab a huge chunk of salt folks as we have some huge news for you which is all based on a supposedly tweeted image by comex, one of the hackers working on jailbreaking the tablet, since he did do it before, right after the iPad 2 was launched. But first things first, here’s the image in question:
Fruity, an ifans forum poster has a fruity story about the image:
I was on comex’s Twitter about an hour ago when he posted a single image link. I was surprised to see it was what appears to be a flyer for his new jailbreak? When I reloaded the Twitter page it was gone completely. I still had the image in another tab, though, so I saved it to my computer. Perhaps this wasn’t intended to get out yet or maybe there was a delay? I don’t know, I’m just looking at the image unsure if he’s really intending to release it tomorrow or not. This is certainly weird.
Hence the grain of salt needed with the image above. But if all of that is true then it means tomorrow, June 17, or 6/17/11 at 6:17:11 PM GMT (so noon EST) the iPad 2 jailbreak will be released. Is it JailbreakMe 3.0? But wait, it gets better. It looks like that line after the text reads: “iPd2jailbrokenforlife”:
Oh, and apparently that QR code points to comex’ Twitter account, although I can’t verify that myself as I type this post up.
Does that mean that comex has found a significant flaw, one that can be exploited to offer a jailbreak for life for the iPad 2 too? All other iOS devices out there are jailbreakable for life, no matter what iOS version they would run, so this would great news for jailbreakers out there that have been waiting for the iPad 2 jailbreak ever since the new tablet was launched.
Of course, and we simply have to point out this fact, the image above could be fake, and that ifans forum poster could be wrong, considering that the tweet in question is not available anymore. But there’s definitely one thing that suggests the iPad 2 jailbreak is coming soon. Check out comex’ latest Twitter dialog:
Comex’ previous teaser suggested that a new JailbreakMe version is coming soon and we assumed it will be used to jailbreak the iPad, and that’s what the dialogue above was all about. But here’s some of the reactions comex got after his response:
Would people rather wait for iOS 5 and the iPhone 4S/5 to arrive before using an iPad 2 jailbreak? Update: 6:17:11PM GMT has passed, and comex is silent on the iPad 2 jailbreak. The real strange thing is that he hasn’t tweeted anything in almost two days.

My daily ritual since i got my ipad 2 has been. Facebook then search google for “ipad 2 jailbreak” and see if there are any new news articles about. Hahahaha so i really REALLY hope this is real.
I just hope it works with 4.3.3 and its untethered since 4.3.3 is what I am stuck with on my iPad 2(I just bought it so thats what Im stuck with)

Those who are subscribed to comex’s tweets by SMS would have gotten that tweet on their phones even if he immediately deleted it. With 140K followers, there would be more people aware of this tweet than the one or two falsely claiming they saw it.

I want a jailbreak just as much as the rest of you, but you realize you are talking smack about likely one of just a few guys around that’s willing to devote his time to developing a jailbreak while you guys are out partying and going about your business. Even if Comex doesn’t end up being successful, everyone who owns an iPad 2 should be grateful for the effort he has spent. I have never seen more self-centered, self-absorbed, childish, selfish, and ungrateful people than I have since reading all of the posts and waiting for the development of an iPad 2 jailbreak the last 3 months. It’s no wonder guy’s like ionic enjoy toying with you all as much as he does.
I hope Comex is successful and comes out with a jailbreak today, but if he doesn’t I’m still there for him even if it takes another six months, or even never. I’ve never even met the guy and he has my respect for what he’s trying to do. Especially when he’s trying to do it for a community that isn’t even willing to show consistency in their support.

First of all, when you want to insult everyone commenting on a post like you’re obviously trying to do, make sure you at least have bits of your spelling right so as not to seem less intelligent yourself. That also goes to say that your comments will not be approved anymore should they be offensive in any way, name choice included. Secondly, the way you are commenting only shows trolling signs for yourself, so it’s time you got off your high horse.
Thirdly, and from what I just wrote so far I shouldn’t even be trying to explain it to you, but here goes, I never said this is 100% (or any other percentage) true. In fact I doubt it myself too as I have pointed out in the post so where’s all this hatred coming from? Have I in any way offended comex and everyone else working in the jailbreak business? Does that mean it’s a story not worth covering because it’s not true? Couldn’t have said It better! We as a community need to back off a little! As everyone can tell, bugging them does us no good! In fact, it has proven to discurredge them. Geohot is a perfect example of this. The jailbreak will not come any sooner cause we asked them to hurry. Nor asking for a release date will do any good. They have gave release dates in the past and couldn’t have it ready on the date do to unforeseen issues. But we bitch and complain because we want it now. So why would anyone do that to themselves? I don’t blame them for keeping things hush hush till it’s ready!

It has come to the attention of several people in the know that the Ipad 2 will not be jailbroken anytime soon if at all. Though a few technical reasons were given for this, it appears that @COMEX and members of his group are unable to produce the code needed to jailbreak this device.
The team will continue to focus their efforts on jailbreaking the anticipated IOS 5.0 release and due to their interests in that area, no further work will be done on the Ipad 2.
Sadly for those of you waiting to jailbreak your Ipad 2 you should understand now that no jailbreak for this device will ever be released and any and all speculation or reference to one being developed is totally false.
