iPhone 4S/5 Specs & Features Confirmed by Nuance?

With each day that goes by we get closer and closer to the next-gen iPhone launch but we also tend to get more and more rumors regarding the upcoming Apple smartphone. The iPhone 4S/5 (as you can see we’re still undecided on what name it will bear) is expected to hit the streets at some point in fall, and until then we have plenty of time to speculate on its specs and features.

Today’s rumor comes from quite an unusual place, and that’s Nuance, a company that’s already famous for making various speech to text apps for all sorts of operating systems, including mobile ones, and, most importantly, a company that’s rumored to work closely with Apple to offer Cupertino it’s own speech recognition software for iOS devices.

Nuance has leaked a bunch of screenshots that seem to display the next-gen iPhone 4S/5 model. We’re looking at an edge-to-edge iPhone display, a feature that has been murmured before in relation to the next iPhone, and one that’s clearly displayed in Nuance’s SpeechTrans Ultimate App.

Is it a 4-inch display? Is it a 3.7-inch display? We can’t wait to find out the answer to that question but we’re rather more interested in how, and why, did Nuance make such a mistake and post up such images. Nuance seems to imply that the next-gen iPhone will look fairly similar to the current iPhone 4, a model that is also depicted in the images below, most likely for comparison purposes. But the display would be indeed bigger.

So what’s the point of this unexpected leak? Is it an error? Is a denial coming soon? Is Nuance pissed off at Apple for any reason? Or does the company want to show us that its iOS apps would work on any iPhone, no matter what version or how big the screen it would have? What say you, faithful readers?
