Dead Rising 2: Off The Record Price Set At $40
Do you remember when we covered Dead Rising 2: Off The Record? That’s the ‘remake’ of Dead Rising 2 that has Frank West starring in the game, instead of Chuck Greene. It’s sort of a fun take on DR2 as it changes the events of the game a bit with Frank in Chuck’s place. It was known that the game would be a full retail game sold on disc in a box, not DLC. Now, Capcom has let it be known the price of the game – $40.

That price was exposed by Capcom Vancouver executive producer Jason Leigh in an interview with Eurogamer.net. That’s the announced price for North America only. Here’s what Leigh said when he defended the $40 price:
There’s a ton of added value here. We have the new environment, weapons, combo weapons, new clothing, food items, vehicles, new bosses and the new story. It’s a much bigger game than Dead Rising 2 was.
Some fans are mad that they’re being charged that much for what (on the surface) looks like the DLC content they’ve already put out for Dead Rising 2 (Case West and Case Zero) while other fans have just accepted that this is what we get from Capcom. Often, they’ll put out a remastered special edition of the game a year or so after the initial release, like Super Street Fight IV or countless other examples.
Dead Rising 2: Off The Record will include a new ‘Theme Park’ area that some folks are getting excited about. It is an all-new area for Fortune City that supposedly includes a lot of fun little areas, and lots of zombies. Is that worth $40? We’ll let you decide.
