Asus Confirms Eee Pad Slider & 3G Transformer UK Availability, Both Coming In August

Asus Offers August Release Timeframe For The Eee Pad Slider & 3G Transformer, Leaves Us Wondering The Price & Exact Release Dates

Asus has come forward with a nice little update for those in the UK. It looks like you are going to be waiting a few more months before the Eee Pad Slider and the 3G equipped Transformer arrive. Though, while the update was nice to see, the term ‘little’ rings true.

The statement was posted on the official Asus UK Facebook page and reads as follows;

“Eee Pad Slider coming to the UK in Aug, as is the 3G Transformer. We’ll provide specific details on where to buy and exact date of availability nearer the time. Thank you for being so patient.”

So basically, Asus has confirmed that both devices will arrive in August. Of course, on the flip side many that are interested will probably want to know the price so they can start setting some cash aside. But then again, the release could still be anywhere from around 6 to 10 weeks away depending on whether it comes in the beginning or end of August.

Either way, we will be happy with the information given. And for those in need of a spec refresher. The Eee Pad Slider (pictured above) features a 10.1 inch display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and is running Honeycomb. The Eee Transformer features similar specs including the 10.1 inch display, dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and Honeycomb however it features a keyboard that is dockable as opposed to an always connected slider. In addition, both have the other features that one would expect to see including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, memory card slots and front and rear facing cameras.

Bottom line, if you think you will always want to have a keyboard then go with the Slider, otherwise, consider the Transformer. With that, lets just hope that these models launch in August as expected and not as the original Wi-Fi only Transformer with delays.
