Verizon To Launch The Samsung Galaxy S II In July

With A Price & Exact Release Date Still Missing, Verizon Has Confirmed That The Galaxy S II Would Arrive For Sale Sometime Next Month

We had heard the rumors in the past, however as of today Verizon Wireless has offered a bit of confirmation. Sadly, the confirmation did not arrive in the form of a press release with a complete set of release details. But that being said, Verizon has at least confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S II was coming and that it would be released in July.

So with that, it looks like we have some waiting to do. Not only for an actual release date, but also for the pricing. Not to mention, Verizon has yet to confirm the name they will release the Galaxy S II as, which in the past was rumored to be the Function.

Yup, the Verizon Function. And before anyone thinks that is a strange name, the Galaxy S II is rumored to be coming to Sprint as the Within and to AT&T as the Attain. Of course, as that goes we have yet to see any confirmation come from Sprint or AT&T in terms of an upcoming release.

Bottom line, at this point we are expecting Verizon to release the Galaxy S II as the Verizon Function and it will arrive sometime next month.

For those who may have missed the Galaxy S II — or simply ignored it given it was not arriving in the US at the time — the features are fairly solid. Though, we do sense that some will complain that it is not going to be a 4G LTE device for Verizon. Otherwise, the Galaxy S II is sporting a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 2 megapixel front facing camera, 8 megapixel read facing camera and Android 2.3.3 with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface on top. And as you would expect, the handset will also have the usuals including a microSD card slot, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
