E3 2011: Peter Moore Shares New Details About SSX
EA Sports‘ upcoming reboot of the SSX series got some face time during EA’s E3 press conference today. Not that much was shared, but EA Sports boss Peter Moore talked about some features that are sure to get fans of the PS2 games excited.

To start things off, Moore talked about the amount of realism EA Sports is bringing to the series, saying that players would be able to explore a “massive” open world. “Let me be clear,” he said, “I mean massive. Using NASA satellite data to scan the globe, and bring a ridiculous level of content to the game, we will let players explore and drop into every major mountain range on the planet.”
That means the “one mountain, different peaks” setup of SSX 3 is a thing in the past, instead letting players pick what course they want to ride like SSX Tricky. Moore also briefly talked about SSX’s three new game modes: Race It, Trick It, and Survive It. The names should clue you into what you’ll be doing in each one, and it appears that the survival aspect that fans lashed out against is making it into the game after all, just with its own separate mode.
Wrapping things up, Moore revealed that Kaori will join the previously-announced characters Elise and Mac, and said that her reveal trailer can be found on origin.com. He also said that they’d be revealing one new character on Facebook by the end of E3. No solid release date was revealed, but Moore says that it’ll be out sometime in January 2012. As always, check back with TFTS for all of your SSX news during E3 and beyond.
