Samsung Kies For Mac Comes Available In Beta Form

Samsung Releases Mac Compatible Kies App, Comes As Beta & With Limited Device Support

Some good news has come for those without access to a Windows computer and using a Samsung device — Samsung has offered up a first version of the Kies app for Mac. Though, while nice to see, there are some catches that will keep everyone from getting super excited at this point.

But first, the Kies app for the Mac is available as a free download and can be found on the Samsung website. That being said, the Kies app for Mac is still being classified as beta and the support for devices is limited. At present Kies for Mac only supports two Samsung devices, the Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy S II.

Granted, they are both fairly popular devices so that is probably a good place to start, however we will be a bit happier when Samsung announces that Kies has come out of beta and has support for more than two devices.

Moving on though, while Kies for Mac is nice to see, many probably have little use for it. Or for that matter, some probably have no idea what the Kies app would even be required for. Well, a few of the features include being able to purchase and/or download apps, manage your on-device multimedia and back up the data from your phone to your computer.

Of course, there is one additional feature, which just so happens to be the one that we most often see people looking towards the Kies app for — firmware upgrades. And sure, most of the updates will eventually come over the air, but we understand that sometimes people simply do not want to have to wait. And in the past, being a Mac owner meant having to run the Kies app in a virtual method such as with Parallels or being out of luck.
