The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Coming to Xbox 360 by End of 2011
A console version of The Witcher 2 (or really any Witcher game, for that matter) has been rumored and teased for quite some time now, but CD Project Red actually confirmed that a console version is in the works at CDP Summer Days earlier today. Unfortunately, PS3 owners seem to be out of luck with this one, as CD Projekt Red said that The Witcher 2 will only be coming to Xbox 360.

Now that we’ve got the more somber news out of the way, here’s the good news: The Witcher 2 will be out Microsoft’s box of love by the end of 2011. CD Projekt Red says that the 360 version will have all of the updates the PC version has received since release, so 360 owners can be sure that they won’t be getting an outdated version when they drop $60 on it. While there weren’t much in the way of details, CDR said that the 360 iteration will come at “no quality compromise,” and that console gamers can “expect the same experiences,” that PC players have been treated to.
And that’s it – no other details to speak of. We’re going to have to wait until E3 to see the Xbox 360 version in action. Fans of the series will also be happy to know that The Witcher 2 enjoyed a strong release, selling 400,000 copies in its debut week. When coupled with the strong reviews The Witcher 2 has been receiving, those sales numbers pretty much guarantee we’ll have more adventures with Geralt later on down the road.
After never getting The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf, it’s definitely exciting to see The Witcher 2 making its way to 360. If CD Projekt Red can make a port that’s faithful to the PC original, then 360 gamers are in for a treat when The Witcher 2 releases later this year.
