Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Zone of the Enders HD Collections on the Way From Konami

Metal Gear Solid & Zone of the Enders Series Coming to Xbox 360 for the First Time in New HD Collections From Konami

HD remakes are the hip new thing in gaming, and Konami has revealed that they have a whole slew of them coming up. The Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, and Zone of the Enders series all getting a graphical overhaul, and PS3 owners aren’t the only ones who get in on the action, either – Konami also revealed that the Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders HD collections will be coming to Xbox 360 as well.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection includes Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. This means that the rumored PS3 version of Peace Walker is in fact a reality, and the ability to transfer your PSP save to the PS3 version is there as well, through a new feature called “transfarring,” which is available in the PS3 version. Strangely, the original Metal Gear Solid is absent from this collection, but that could have something to do with Hideo Kojima’s big project planned Metal Gear’s 25th anniversary.

The Zone of the Enders HD Collection is comprised of both of the PS2 titles, ZOE and ZOE 2. Like Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the Zone of the Enders collection will use the new transfarring (tranfarrence?) feature as well, but how it would work or what purpose it would serve wasn’t detailed. Finally, Konami’s bringing Silent Hill 2 and 3 together for the Silent Hill HD Collection, which really wasn’t detailed at all. There was also a mention of a new NGP title called Silent Hill: Book of Memories, so keep an ear tuned to E3 for more news on that one.

It sounds like Konami’s pulling out all the stops for these HD collections, and they mean big things for their respective series – Metal Gear Solid gets a spin on a console that isn’t made by Sony, and the revival of Zone of the Enders could mean that we’re heading for a Zone of the Enders 3 reveal sometime in the future.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be out in November, while Zone of the Enders is looking at a 2012 release. We’ll have more news these collections as details are made available, but in the meantime, are you excited or what?
