iWork Officially Hits iOS Gear A Week Before WWDC

Apple Productivity App Suite iWork Lands On iPhone, iPad, iPod A Week Before WWDC Show

We’ve been following iWork for Apple devices out here for some time now, and there have been a variety of updates, though we haven’t heard much for much of the year so far. But with WWDC next week, a fairly big bit of news slipped out for iWork: iWork is now universal across all the Apple devices.

That’s right, folks; whether you’re packing a iPad or iPad 2, an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4, or even a third or fourth generation iPod Touch, you’ll be able to get down on Keynote, Pages and Numbers no matter where you are to whomp up that presentation they’ve been screaming at you to make at work.  And of course, you can also work on documents and spreadsheets and such too, and in many cases, they’ll even play nice with Microsoft Works systems so you can get your stuff to the guys who are tied to their PCs while you’re in the park merrily feeding the ducks and typing on your iPad. Almost doesn’t even seem like work that way, does it?

But what’s really impressive about this development–aside from the fact that you have a whole new platform from which to work–is that we’re getting this announcement now. Considering that Apple’s WWDC is next week, as I mentioned, you’d figure they would have waited to bring this up then. Why didn’t they? The obvious solution that lunges at you like something out of a bad horror movie is that there’s simply too much going on at the WWDC that, by comparison, iWork simply does not rate. And considering we’ve been following iWork news bits for the last year and a half now, the fact that iWork is now available on most every iDevice doesn’t rate as worth a note in WWDC means that this one is likely going to be huge.

Am I overreacting? Are there other possibilities here? Or are you just too happy to see iWork hit everything that it doesn’t particularly matter why they didn’t save it just as long as it hit? Head on down to the comments section and tell us what you think!
