Acer W4 Windows Phone 7 Specs Revealed [Acer W4 To Feature 3.6" Display, 5MP Camera, 1GHz CPU & Come Running Windows Phone With The Mango Update]

Microsoft had their Windows Phone preview event back on May 24th and at the time they detailed what we could expect to see in terms of the future of Windows Phone. More specifically, they offered the details in terms of new features that will arrive with Mango and stated that they now had partnerships with Acer, Fujitsu and ZTE and that we would see new Mango running devices in the fall.

That being said, it looks like Acer may have already been working on a device and as it turns out — it was on display during Computex. The handset is the Acer W4 and it appears to be a device with similar specs to what we would see today.

In other words, while this one may arrive running Mango, the specs are about what we can buy today. With that, the Acer W4 will arrive sporting a 3.6 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 resolution, 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, 8GB of internal storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and DLNA. In terms of network support, this one was noted as having support for HSPA 850/1900 or 900/2100 and GSM quad band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz.

Bottom line, while this looks like a nice enough phone, its probably not the higher spec’d device that many are hoping to see in terms of Windows Phone. All said and done, while its nice to see more variety from more manufacturers, we are going to have to keep waiting. Of course, given the right price this could be a nice phone.

Also worth mentioning, while this seems like it will end up being a low-end device come the second round of Windows Phone offerings, we should point out something about the processor. The MSM8255 is what we saw launched in the Xperia Play and it comes with the Adreno 205 GPU. Basically, while not an overwhelming improvement, it should be slightly better than the 1GHz processors that are powering the current crop of Windows Phone handsets.
