Computex 2011: ViewSonic ViewPad 7x Tablet Officially Announced

ViewSonic ViewPad 7x To Feature A 7" Display, Android 3.0 Honeycomb & A Dual-Core Tegra 2 Processor

ViewSonic has gotten off to a quick start at Computex and unveiled their ViewPad 7x, you remember, the tablet we saw revealed earlier this month. Well, as expected, the ViewPad 7x is going to be a 7 inch Android tablet and it will arrive running Honeycomb.

And it seems that little bit about the previous reveal is not lost on ViewSonic who have made the announcement touting how the ViewPad 7x will be “making its first official appearance.”

“The ViewPad 7x is a seven-inch HoneyComb tablet that utilises a NVIDIA dual-core processor and promises users HSPA+ for greater Internet browsing and a enhanced multimedia experience.”

Otherwise, while ViewSonic was kind enough to share some of the other details in terms of specs and features, they failed to let anyone know when the ViewPad 7x was going to come available — and how much it will be selling for.

Some of the other confirmed features include front and back cameras, HDMI, DLNA, SRW, TruMedia and a “high quality” capacitive LED display with 10 point multi-touch. And as ViewSonic is kind enough to point out, that is “offering far more possibilities than standard screen offerings.” In addition, the ViewPad 7x was noted as weighing in at 380 grams, which for those in the US, is roughly 0.84 pounds.

All things considered, the ViewPad 7x looks to be a nice tablet and one that could have some potential. If nothing else it will be a 7 inch model running Honeycomb, which is something that we have not seen just yet. Of course, given that ViewSonic has had more than a few tablets to date and not have made a tremendous splash so far we will have to wait and see. But hey, this could be their first, after all they have the fact that this will be a 7 inch Honeycomb device going for them. Let just hope that is enough.

And for those wondering, it looks like it will be a proper Google device with access to the Android Market.
