Computex 2011: ViewSonic Gets Official With The ViewPad 10Pro Tablet [ViewPad 10Pro Tablet Will Feature A 10" Display, 1.5GHz Intel Oak Trail CPU, Windows 7 Pro & Be Able To Run Android]
We just mentioned the ViewPad 7x Honeycomb running tablet with its 7 inch display and now we move onto the other tablet that ViewSonic unveiled during Computex — the ViewPad 10Pro.

And right off the bat this seems to be an interesting tablet, though the part that makes it interesting comes with a catch. The ViewPad 10Pro is going to be a dual-OS device running Windows 7 Professional and Android. But before anyone begins to think dual-booting — that is not quite it. You see, the ViewPad 10Pro will be running Windows 7 Professional and allow users to run Android apps — think virtualization.
According to the description that ViewSonic gives;
“This tablet, powerful in both hardware and software, is ideal for users who wish to have a combination of entertainment and professional needs. It allows for an instantaneous switch between the two OSes without turning off the tablet – Android for simple tasks such as Web browsing and Windows 7 for business applications.”
Taken that it does seem like an interesting approach. Of course, we will see how well received it is, but it sounds good nonetheless. Otherwise, the ViewPad 10Pro will also bring features to include a 1.5GHz Intel Oak Trail Z670 processor, 32GB internal storage, microSD card slot, 3G, Wi-Fi , Bluetooth and a display that is capacitive in nature. In addition those who make the purchase will also find a 3500 mAh battery that is said to be able to offer up to 4.5 hours of 1080p video playback.
And lastly, as of now there has not been anything mentioned in terms of when the ViewPad 10Pro would be available for sale or how much it will cost once it is available. All said and done, the idea of having both operating systems on a tablet does sound appealing, however judging from my use cases I am not sure I would want a tablet running Windows. And I only say that because I tend to grab my tablet (running Android or iOS) over a regular computer because I want quick and fast as opposed to a full operating system. Plus, with Windows 7 Professional we have to think the price is going to be higher.
