Computex 2011: Three New Shuttle Tablets Hit Ground
Considering the Computex show hasn’t even technically opened yet, we’re still seeing plenty of news emerge from this one, and for those of you who liked hearing about the Shuttle tablets back at the CES show last January, you’ll be very happy to know about the upcoming lineup from Shuttle, featuring three new tablets, the V08CT01, the N09CN01, and the N10CN12.

First off we’ve got the Shuttle V08CT01, an eight inch tablet that’s packing a Cortex A8 processor from the crew out at Texas Instruments, SVGA resolution, and 512 megs of RAM. It’s also been ruggedized to help protect it against some drops and spills (the extent of its ruggedization seems limited to anti-shock and anti-drop functions) and is geared toward, get this, the pre-school market. I assume that’s for teachers rather than students, though.
Next up is the Shuttle N09CN01, a nine inch tablet showing at XGA resolution and packing an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor along with a gig of RAM.
Its cohort, the Shuttle N10CN12, is packing essentially the same specs except it offers up a ten inch screen showing at WXGA resolution. Both it and its nine inch counterpart are geared toward the consumer market, and all three are, reportedly, set to run Froyo.
There’s no word yet about pricing or release, and some have said that the new tablets have a decidedly prototypical feel to them. And spec-wise, it doesn’t look like the new tablets from Shuttle are going to do a whole lot to distinguish themselves, especially considering what’s coming down the pipe as it is. Of course, they could always try to compete on price–if they manage to bring out an under $200 tablet, they may have a hit on their hands considering the specs above.
So what do you guys make of this? Do you see possibility here in the Shuttle lineup, or will they be promptly squashed by most any other tablet on the market? Hit the comments section and fill us in on your thoughts on this latest entrant in the tablet wars.

A QUALITY UNLOCKED Android tablet with 3G/4G & WIFI at a US$200 price point would be a hit.
Absolutely it would! The question is who will produce said quality tablet. I’ve seen some Android tablets that were so bad I wouldn’t spit on them if they were on fire.
