Archos Arnova 7 & Arnova 84 Are Inexpensive Android Tablets [Archos Introduces 7-inch Budget Android Tablets in Europe Priced at £99 & £129; Is it Worth the Price?]
If you know where to look, you can just get yourself that Android tablet for significantly less than mainstream offerings like the Asus Eee Pad Transformer and Motorola Xoom. Archos’ Arnova 7 and 84 are inexpensive, but are they worth it?

Priced at £99 and £129 respectively, the Arnova 7 and Arnova 84 Android tablets that won’t be too heavy on the pocket. The Arnova 7 features a 7-inch 800×380 pixel resistive display and runs Android 2.2. Meanwhile, the Arnova 84 comes with a 8.4-inch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, and runs Android 2.1. Both devices don’t have direct access to Google’s Android Market, although Arnova provides its own third-party app store with about 30,000 applications available for download. Still, modders and hackers might be able to activate Market support through rooting.
Archos’ Arnova brand is targeted at the European market, and it does seem they’re not targeting the high-end or even mid-range tablet market with these releases. Archos says the Arnova 7 bridges the gap between smartphone and notebook computer, with focus on multimedia. Meanwhile, the Arnova 84 is marketed as best for e-book reading.
Are these inexpensive Arnova tablets worth the low price, or would you rather pay the premium for a tablet with better specs and newer Android software?
