Nissan LEAF Nismo RC Videos Released

Nissan Has a Sporty Electric LEAF & Wants To Show It Off

If you think the Nissan LEAF is just a small city car with anemic performance, you haven’t seen the Nissan LEAF Nismo RC. It’s not a Tesla Roadster nor a Nissan GT-R, but it has decent performance for a sporty EV.

Nissan announced the sporty version of its LEAF electric vehicle last April, and the car is certainly an improvement over the simple design of its city-bound sibling, the Nissan LEAF. Performance-wise, the Nismo Leaf RC can accelerate from 0 to 62 MPH (which is 100 Km/h) in 6.85 seconds, and can sustain its top speed of 150 Km/h for 20 consecutive minutes on a single charge.

The fact that you can only sustain the top speed for a few minutes is the Leaf Nismo RC’s biggest disappointment, though. But consider that it’s an electric vehicle, and this is perhaps one of the biggest disadvantages of EVs.

We’re not sure if the Nismo Leaf RC will ever be sold in the market, although the electric technology developed for the car might make its way to Nissan’s other sport-oriented models like the Z series, GT-R, or maybe even Nissan’s own ESFLOW concept.
