Get Pumped for Gears of War 3 With New Campaign Trailer

Epic Releases Gears of War 3 Campaign Trailer to Remind Us that While Multiplayer's Cool, the Campaign Will be Awesome as Well

With all of the hubbub over the recently-closed Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta, you’d be forgiven if you forgot that the game actually has a single-player campaign as well. Epic’s here to remind you that not only does the Gears 3 campaign still exist, but it’s probably going to kick ass (as evidenced, at least partially, by their use of Black Sabbath in the clip).

We don’t get to see too much in the minute-long trailer, but it opens with Adam Fenix sending out a call for help and Marcus resolving to find him. Fans of the series will remember the distress call from Adam at the end of Gears of War 2, and Marcus spent four years in prison prior to the events in the original Gears of War for abandoning his military duties in order to try and save his father.

The trailer also gives us a look at various gigantic bosses, each one more disgusting and camera-shaking than the last. That’s about all we get, though, except for all of the explosions and gunfire you’d expect to see in a Gears of War trailer.

As a little side-note, Clayton Carmine doesn’t seem to show up in this trailer, so we don’t get any hints regarding his fate in Gears of War 3. Ultimately though, his fate rests on what Gears of War fans decided in the vote held by Epic last summer – an event that raised $150,000 for Child’s Play.

Well Gears fans, this is it. Cliff Bleszinski has said that this game is going to answer a lot of your questions about the Gears of War universe, and Gears 3 is set to wrap up the current story arc (though Epic has indicated that this entry doesn’t end the Gears of War series). It makes sense that Epic wants the trilogy to go out with a bang, so all of us should be in for a treat come September. We expect to hear more about Gears 3 when E3 kicks off next week, and you’ll be able to get all of your E3 news right here at TFTS.

Gears of War 3 lands on Xbox 360 on September 20.
