iPad 3G Jailbreak Makes Possible iPhone Functions On Tablet Like Calls & SMS Messages [iPad 3G Acts as a Big iPhone Once Jailbreak Is Performed; iPad 2 Can’t Enjoy Such Features]
It’s no secret anymore that you can jailbreak any iOS device out there, excluding the iPad 2, which happens to be new territory for hackers as they’re still trying to figure out a way to offer public jailbreak tools for the tablet. But today we’re not talking about the iPad 2 jailbreak as we’re going to focus on something a little more interesting.

Today we’re talking about using the iPad 3G as a huge iPhone, as a new jailbreak trick makes such features possible. The iPad 3G is supposed to let you only connect to carriers’ networks for data usage, but once the device is jailbroken the sky is, apparently, the limit. Some clever folks out there managed to use the iPad 3G as a genuine phone, and that’s something that plenty of iPad 3G users could appreciate.
After all, other tablets out there can make phone calls, and while I’d rather not use the iPad as a phone I can see that some people might be interested in such features especially since the iPad 3G can’t support FaceTime calls, at least not officially, as it lacks the cameras such a video chat feature would require.
The main advantage of such a tool would be, obviously the unlocked nature of the iPad 3G. The iPad 3G has never been tied to any worldwide carrier, which was one of its many selling points. Therefore once you jailbreak it and install this upcoming Cydia application you would be able to use any kind of SIM card and transform your tablet into a working smartphone.
There are plenty of downsides however, most of them being related to the fact that you’d end up carrying a 10-inch smartphone with you at all times to use it as a phone. Not quite so convenient, is it? The application that turns the iPhone 3G into a fully working smartphone is not yet available to download, but at least you can check out the video above to see how it works. Anyone specifically interested in such iPad features?
