Apple Looking At Back To School Special Announcement For WWDC [Apple May Have A New Surprise At The WWDC This Year, News About Its New Back To School Specials]
You’re probably already in the know that, most years, Apple likes to put out a back to school special deal, in much the same way that Microsoft did not too long ago. But what you may not expect this time around is where they plan to announce it, and just what will be up on the block as part of said announcement.

The current word says that, while Apple’s back to school sales announcement generally comes around this time of year, and has as far back as 2006, this year Apple’s going to put it up as part of the news barrage that will likely be the WWDC event. And what’s going to be part of it, at last report, is even more interesting. While the normal specials will likely be in place–Apple often likes, reportedly, to make an iPod Touch a free gift for anyone buying a Mac–but this time, you’ll also get $200 the purchase of an iPad (whether that’s an iPad or an iPad 2 or both is unclear) when you buy a Mac.
Apple has never, apparently, offered up its back to school announcements as part of WWDC, which is definitely a strange development if it actually pans out. Though indeed it would fall under the purview of Apple news, it’s not exactly what you’d expect to see at the World Wide Developers’ Conference, as it’s more about hardware pricing than anything else.
Still though, I wouldn’t call it out of line for this to crop up at the big show, sort of as a way to “electrify the base” as it were by showing them that the kids are going to want piles of Apple gear and in rapid fashion, so they’d best get on the stick developing the apps and programs those kids will want fueling their Apple gear.
So what do you guys think? Entirely too out of place for WWDC, or does this early news make sense? Is this a deal you’d take advantage of either way? There’s plenty to discuss here and we’ve got just the place down in the comments section.
