Reports Emerge Of HTC Thunderbolt Phones Randomly Rebooting Several Times A Day [A Fix Is Said To Be On The Way From Verizon And HTC, Recent Update Seems To Be Responsible ]

I guess bad tech news comes in threes, folks, because following reports of a fix for Skype for Mac and troubles with the Lenovo ThinkPad X220, new reports emerged of troubles with the HTC Thunderbolt as well. And these reports are coming hot on the heels of the recent update for the Thunderbolt.

If you’ve already got an HTC Thunderbolt, chances are you already know about the recent update for the phone as well. But following that update, the reports started coming out about the phone rebooting, for no apparent reason, and often several times in a day. And worse yet, for those who tried to solve their problem with the leaked version of Gingerbread, their phones were introduced to an endless loop of rebooting.

But here’s the good news for those phone owners: Verizon and HTC are both working on a fix right now, and if you happen to be employed by Verizon or HTC, you may be able to get your hands on the patch a little earlier than most, likely as a final test before the patch is put out. And, if the thought of waiting for a patch to use the phone you paid for leaves you a bit cold, some have reported that you can just go back to a Verizon store and trade in your random rebooting phone for another one, and if it’s running the older software, you’ll bypass the problem entirely. This might be the best solution, at least until the fix emerges for the current software issue.

It’s been a strange day for equipment failures, folks, though hopefully there won’t be any more weird incidents cropping up. But the floor’s open for you–has your Thunderbolt been acting up? Have you had any strange mechanical failures with hardware that didn’t make the list? The comments section stretches wide before you, so head on down and make your presence known!
