Leaked iPhone 5 Back Plate Photograph by… iPhone 5 Of Course [Forensic Tech VooDoo Seems to Confirm Certain Specs & Features of the Next iPhone: Camera & Flash Location]
A recent leaked image showing the alleged back plate of the iPhone 5 seems to have been the source of an interesting discovery. The picture itself was taken with an iPhone 5 and, thanks to the current tools at our disposal, this fact seems to have been already proven.

The leaked image processed in Photoshop, is apparently able to confirm that the back plate in question is real and actually used on a device that’s taking the picture. The back plate shows us that the camera and the flash do not share the same location, like on current iPhone 4 models, which is something that has been hinted in the past. Now the back plate alone can’t be used to confirm the fact that the iPhone 5 will have the camera placed on the top left corner with the flash being placed on the top right corner, since plenty of people could come up with such a case for their 5-minutes of attention.
What’s interesting though is that the device used to take the picture is being reflected in that back plate and, after all the forensic analysis is performed, it turns out to be an iPhone that uses the same kind of back plate it’s actually photographing, one where the camera and the LED flash do not share the same location.
Therefore an iPhone 5 was used to take a picture of that iPhone 5 back plate. Or at least that’s the conclusion drawn by iFans after a pretty terrific detective process that involved two different Photoshop experts:
Kurt178:
in photoshop, i changed the exposure settings to see the reflected camera more clearly. i cropped out the reflected phone, put it on another layer.and flipped it. since it was on a bit of an angle, i worked it till the apple logo was the correct shape and the camera was the correct distance from the logo. i did this by putting the reflected camera on top of the iphone 5 and made sure the logo was the correct size and the distance from the lens to the logo was correct. what did i find? that dot, which was suspect is the flash, matches perfectly. it was in fact taken with an iphone 5. so there is working model out there!
Appman:
1. Inverted, then tweaked the exposure.
2. Tweaked color and contrast.
3+4. Tweaked the images’ “Curves”
Would both lie when confirming their findings (see images in the gallery below)? The final confirmation will come from Apple once the new iPhone 5 gets official, although I have to say this piece of detective work is quite interesting. At the same time I can’t but ask myself why on earth the person allegedly holding the iPhone 5 in the image above didn’t actually posted up an image of that prototype in the first place?
We’ll certainly look forward for your thoughts on this leaked iPhone 5 image, either in the comments section or on our Facebook page, so let us know what you think!
