HP Continues The Veer 4G Promotions, Gives Some Away On The NYC Subway

HP, Along With Lady GaGa Dancers Offer A Show & Free HP Veer 4G Smartphones For Some NYC Subway Riders

Just yesterday we told you the story about how some Charlotte Best Buy employees were given free Veer 4G smartphones (along with a printer) after a training session for the webOS based smartphone. And well, it looks like HP had another and much bigger trick up their sleeve.

The latest happened in the New York City subway and was done with some Lady GaGa dancers in a cross promotion event for the HP Veer and the new Lady GaGa album “Born This Way.” Of course, this was all done with the backdrop of Lady GaGa and HP decorated subway cars.

That being said, the Veer 4G launched with AT&T with a relative quite and well, maybe HP is trying to make up for that quite with some over the top promotions. And honestly, Lady GaGa dancers performing in the subway and handing out free phones is enough to get some to talk. Plus, the advertising they have plastered on those subway cars probably is not hurting things.

And while we are rather happy to see HP doing some unique things to spread the word on the Veer, we have to wonder what everyone else is thinking. Namely the guy in the above image holding the Veer. Judging from the look on his face, we are not sure if he is overly joyed and trying to play it cool or scared to death.

The promotion aside, I am not sure I totally get the Veer 4G and its super small display. I tend to think many are going to want something bigger, and this is coming from a webOS fan that really wants the whole lineup, the TouchPad, Pre 3, Veer and future devices to succeed. And I say that as someone who more often than not carries around a tablet that has the bigger screen. But I guess that just means I am not the right person for the Veer.

And with that, you can check out the complete gallery of images on the HP PC Flickr page.
