Hasselblad Brings Out Its H4D-200MS Camera [Hasselblad's Huge New Camera Offers Impressive Resolution At A Hefty Price]
It’s been a good long while since we last got much news out of the folks at Hasselblad, but for impressive cameras, it’s really pretty tough to beat them. So with that in mind, we’ve got a new camera announced from them, namely, the Hasselblad H4D-200MS.

The Hasselblad H4D-200MS is a 200 megapixel camera–it’s actually only got a 50 megapixel sensor, but it offers the capability to take multiple shots and combine them into one much larger shot with a higher pixel density. You can actually attach a hard drive to this camera (and you’d pretty much have to given that each shot reportedly comes back at about 600 meg), and it also offers support for CompactFlash cards. It can shoot images at anywhere from 50 to 800 ISO, and you’ll also get the True Focus system which automatically adjusts the autofocus to allow you to focus on a single point, and then move the camera to compose a whole new shot.
Current Hasselblad owners, meanwhile, will be happy to know that, if they shelled out for the HD-50MS, they can get it upgraded for 7000 Euros, or roughly $9800 US. And they’ll be happy to know this because, if they went out and actually bought a new Hasselblad H4D-200MS, they’d have to shell out a whopping 32,000 Euros for it, which in turn is roughly $45,000 US.
Yes, now you too can buy a camera that costs as much as some entire houses do in some places, especially since it’s available now. Admittedly, this is very much a specialist tool, and of course, specialist tools cost specialist cash because they can take it off their specialist tax returns anyway. The Hasselblad H4D-200MS is probably a lot more camera than most people need, but it’s still pretty impressive when you get right down to it.
So what do you guys think? Would you pick one of these up if they knocked a zero off the price? How about two? Or is this just way more camera than you’d ever need, like I said above, and you wouldn’t bother with it in the first place? Hit the comments section and tell us what you think!
