US Cellular Gets Official With The HTC Merge, Will Arrive May 31st

HTC Merge Coming To US Cellular On May 31st, Will Be Priced At $149.99 After A $100 Mail-In-Rebate

And another carrier has gotten official with the long and often rumored HTC Merge smartphone. The latest is US Cellular who have announced that the handset would be available for purchase beginning on May 31st.

The details have come in what seems to becoming a regular method, by way of their company Facebook page where they stated;

“Facebook exclusive! The Android-powered HTC Merge is officially launching on May 31! UPS trucks will start arriving at stores starting tomorrow so call your local U.S. Cellular location for availability. The HTC Merge has an updated Sense UI which gives you the ability to remote wipe your device if it is lost, by simply logging onto a Web site. Never worry about your information falling into the wrong hands again.”

As for the pricing, expect to pay $149.99, however we should point out that comes with a two-year agreement and AFTER a $100 mail in rebate. In other words, be prepared to shell out $249.99 on the day of purchase.

In terms of the specs, those include a 3.8 inch WVGA touchscreen display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7630 processor, a 1400 mAh battery, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 5 megapixel camera with flash and HD video recording. In addition, the Merge comes with Android 2.2, the most recent version of the Sense user interface from HTC and a microSD card slot that comes with an 8GB memory card included.

The HTC Merge joins the US Cellular Android lineup with other devices to include the Samsung Galaxy Tab, Samsung Mesmerize, HTC Desire, LG Apex, LG Optimus U, Samsung Gem and the Samsung Acclaim. And for those wondering, those handsets are priced at $199.99, $149.99, $99.99, $49.99, $29.99, free and free respectively.
