Amazon Launches Mac Download Store, Offers Sale Pricing [Amazon's Mac Downloads Store Offers 250 Software Titles Exclusively For The Mac, Plus A Special Discount And Some Free Software]
Great news for Mac users comes out of Amazon today, who’s just announced the opening of their newest sub-store, the Mac Download Store. And even better, they’ve got some sale prices going on, so if you’ve been looking for that specific piece of software for your Mac, now would be a good time to head on out to Amazon.

Admittedly, Amazon‘s done software downloads before, but it hasn’t been so quick about branching out into Mac downloads, until now. While, not surprisingly, games will be represented here (just a couple of titles include Dragon Age: Origins and Rome: Total War), you’ll also get more useful apps like Microsoft Office and standards like that. Current count says there are more than 250 titles to be had, and at some pretty good prices, too. How good? Well, if you’re up for a copy of Airport Mania: First Flight, you can actually land that one right now gratis, and you’ll get a $5 off download code for your first paid download.
I went out to Amazon’s Mac download store, and it’s pretty much another Amazon store (so if you’ve already been out to one you’ll have a pretty good idea of how it’s set up and how it all works), so all your current settings and such should do just fine in there. And if you’re needing Mac software, well, you could probably do a lot worse than getting it where you’re already online. Plus, of course, there’s the always-present lure of free stuff and discounts.
Anybody out there try the new Mac download store? Or, if you have a Mac, would you never get your software there? Mac users, we’re dying to know what you think about the whole downloadable software on Amazon issue, so hit the comments section below and tell us what’s on your mind.
