Samsung Joins The All In One PC Race With The Samsung AF315
I’m really growing to enjoy the all in one PC concept. While previously I was skeptical of this relatively new form factor, it’s beginning to grow on me; the thought of saving space by putting all the guts of a tower directly into the monitor itself has a certain appeal, though I likely wouldn’t throw over my current setup for one of them. And joining the race is the crew out at Samsung, who brought out their AF315 all in one.

The Samsung AF315 packs a 23 inch LCD display that’s capable of showing in 3D via active shutter technology, and just for extra aesthetic appeal, offers a slim 11 mm bezel. But this isn’t just another pretty face; the AF315 is packing an Intel Core i5 CPU, a terabyte of hard drive space, a USB 3.0 port, a TV tuner with a Blu-ray player to match (as well as SRS audio, a feature commonly reserved for home theater products–3D movies, anyone?), as well as a remote, wireless keyboard and mouse. Oddly, there’s no word on how much RAM this thing’s packing, but there is some suggestion that it can be used as a phone as well.
And that’s not where the odd leaves off, either, but merely where it begins. See, the Samsung AF315 is being specifically marketed toward the ladies, with Samsung‘s marketing material making specific mention of a “woman’s depth”. Weird, I know–frankly, I don’t see too much wrong with something like this in a man cave–but that seems to be what they’re going for, unless something got lost in the Korean to English translation.
If you’re in South Korea, meanwhile, you’ll be able to lay hands on these starting tomorrow for what sounds like a hefty 2.19 million won, until you realize that works out to about $1988.52 in US dollars.
This leads to a question for the ladies in our readership, and we know you’re out there: is this a good PC for the ladies? From where I sit it looks pretty good for most anyone who doesn’t have a lot of space but still wants a pretty sharp piece of hardware. Or do you all just find it ludicrous that they’re marketing this by gender? Hit the comments section and leave your opinion on this strange matter.
