10.1-inch HTC Puccini Honeycomb Tablet to Enter Mass Production in June?

HTC Puccini, Flyer Successor, Coming Soon? Release Date & Pricing Still Officially Missing In Action]

The HTC Flyer is currently selling in various markets but HTC is already thinking about the future of its tablet business. The company has a 10.1-inch tablet in the works, the HTC Puccini, and the device is now said to hit mass production starting with this June.

The Puccini will probably be a better iPad 2 rival, although it’s going to have to battle both the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Motorola Xoom for that spot. We don’t have actual release dates for you but we’d expect the Puccini to hit stores by the end of the summer, if not sooner. As for pricing details, history teaches us that iPad rivals tend to adopt iPad-like prices so we assume the Puccini will be priced accordingly.

We do have some specs and features for you, which won’t be confirmed for quite a while by HTC. The tablet will come with a 10.1-inch display that will combine both resistive and capacitive touch technologies and will offer you a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8660 1.5GHz processor and Android 3.0.1 Honeycomb under the hood. The stylus is still there and it should work in the same manner it does on the Flyer.

From the looks of it, HTC wants to really make an impression when it comes to specs and features, and this Puccini could be a real beast performance-wise considering that blazing-fast dual-core processor. On the other hand Apple’s iPad 2, also a pretty powerful computing device, was never intended to beat the competition in the specs and features department. And even if it did, the iPad 2 clearly lost that battle. But that didn’t make it a less wanted device. The iPad 2 is flying off the shelves, as it settles deeper and deeper in the minds and hearts of the consumers while solidifying its impressive market share at the same time. In other words, the Puccini, as strong as it may sound, has a tough job ahead once it gets official.
