Samsung Explore 3D Hits United States
For those of you with Samsung Smart TV enabled televisions that were feeling a bit left out as the United Kingdom got to chow down on the big pile of free 3D that Samsung was offering as part of its Explore 3D package, take heart. Seems that, just a week after its release over there, it made its way to similarly endowed televisions in the United States to boot.

This is actually a double chunk of good news for you, as, if you have a Samsung Smart TV, not only will you get access to a nice array of utterly free 3D content, including movie trailers, educational pieces, music videos, and literally “dozens” of 3D content items, it’s only going to get better from here. See, Samsung’s got some deals going with some big name studios–who they’re not naming yet–and will be offering up–for as yet unannounced prices–3D theatrical releases. Right on your Samsung television.
This is, of course, huge news for anyone who thinks that 3D is the future of home entertainment rather than just a colossal gimmick cooked up to save sagging movie theater revenues (I personally fall into the second group) because it’s going to mean getting your hands on 3D a whole lot easier. Not only will you have the content in one easily accessible location, but you’ll also get the means to view said content right from the same location. It’s literally an all in one access point for 3D, and that, frankly, is smart. I’m not huge on the whole 3D thing, myself, mainly because 3D glasses are a terrible fit over the regular prescription variety, and I often end up with wicked eyestrain while watching.
So how many of you out there already have a Samsung Smart TV, and have made plans to hole up until the theatrical releases emerge on your screen? Who’s planning to pick up a Samsung just for the 3D content? Hit the comments section below and let’s talk television!
