HP Touts The TouchPad, Claims it Will Be “Better Than Number One” [HP Aims To Topple The iPad, Wants The TouchPad To Be "Number One Plus" Or Better Than Number One]
While at least some of us are anxiously waiting for the release of the webOS running HP TouchPad tablet, it seems HP is still trying to build up some hype. And judging from some recent statements coming from HP’s European head Eric Cador, the TouchPad is going to be the top tablet.

According to Cador, the TouchPad is going to be “better than number one.” And while that alone would lead one to wonder how you can become better than number one, his full statement on that read as follows;
“In the PC world, with fewer ways of differentiating HP’s products from our competitors, we became number one; in the tablet world we’re going to become better than number one. We call it number one plus.”
Number one plus, sounds rather interesting. Of course, that would lead some to believe that he is referring to the iPad, which regardless of how you feel about Apple — you cannot deny that the iPad is a widely popular tablet.
Still, while HP has high hopes and is really touting the TouchPad lately, you do have to wonder just how well it will do. After all, it is running webOS, which as we have seen with the Pre, the Pre Plus and Pre 2 — was not all that well received by the masses. One of the reasons that many cite as a downfall are the apps, and worry not because Cador did make mention that the TouchPad will have “thousands” of apps at launch. If you ask me, the TouchPad may suffer the same fate as what we are seeing with the PlayBook right now — a great device in terms of hardware, build quality and operating system but few apps.
And just for though, we could not help but notice that Cador said they are going to be better than number one. Well, in terms of what, build quality, available apps, sales. Who knows, just being better than number one can be rather subjective and also dependent on the criteria you are looking at.
