Asus to Introduce New Pad at Computex 2011. Or is it a Phone?

ASUS Releases Teaser Image of What Might be a Tablet/Smartphone Hybrid

Asus has already broken boundaries by introducing a tablet/netbook hybrid in the Eee Pad Transformer. A week before Computex 2011 in Taiwan, the company is releasing teaser images of what might be either a tablet, smartphone or maybe even both!

“Break the Rules: Pad or Phone?” goes the promo image on Facebook. Asus goes on to give us curious readers little clues as to what the device might look like, at least from certain close-up angles. At these perspectives, it might be difficult to determine what exactly Asus is planning to launch at Computex 2011. But since they’re asking us to make up our minds on whether it’s a pad or phone, then it will likely be a hybrid of sorts, or a mix between a tablet and a smartphone.

Perhaps Asus is playing around with the Eee Pad Transformer concept, particularly with how one could convert the Pad into a netbook by snapping in the keyboard attachment. The new “pad or phone” gadget might be a small smartphone that can expand as a tablet by attaching an add-on dock or screen. Or, it could simply be a small tablet with cellular data connectivity.

Asus will be revealing one piece of the puzzle everyday for the next couple of weeks. Any ideas?
