Playstation Network Down Update: Playstation Store To Be Back Up Tuesday, Say Reports
It’s been a long strange process, but it’s beginning to look like that light in front of us is in fact daylight and not just a speeding train coming right at us. According to somewhat unofficial word out of Sony in the form of leaked internal memos, the new target date to launch the Playstation Store is May 24th.

An important caveat with that particular date was that that was the target date, unless some new problem emerged. And considering what’s recently gone down with the password recovery system, that may well qualify as “some new problem” unless that’s already been factored in, so take the 24th target date with something of a grain of salt until you actually manage to log in.
The word came from content manager Jack Osorno, and not only offered up that target date, but also some word about a new schedule of publishing games that would give Sony a chance to catch up on previously unpublished stuff that should have hit over the last three weeks that the network was down.
Naturally this is news that should be welcomed by most Playstation Network users who’ve been having a rough time of things over the last three weeks, though as seems to be the case with most anything that comes out of Sony lately anything could change at most any point.
I personally maintain that Sony’s done a decent job considering the kind of massive troubles it was having; they may not have done a great job of keeping everybody apprised of what was going on–a few less leaks and a few more press releases might have helped on that score–but still, they had a lot to do and they did their best to do it. After all, it didn’t help them much that the lights were out either.
