Motorola Droid X2 Officially Announced, Coming To Verizon On May 19th
Its a new day and we have a new handset announcement coming from Verizon Wireless. The latest model is the Droid X2, which will join the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and the 4G LTE capable LG Revolution. Of course, for anyone following along in the mobile phone world, this announcement comes more as confirmation then surprise.

That said, we are still happy to be able to put another series of rumors to rest. Granted, another will likely pop up, but one item at a time and today is the Droid X2. This handset will be available for purchase beginning on May 19th, though at that time it will only be available online. Those needing to check out the handset in person and get some hands on time before making a commitment will have to wait an additional week — until May 26th.
Otherwise, in terms of the pricing — $199.99 on a two year agreement.

With the release dates and pricing out of the way, lets get onto the specs. The Droid X2 will arrive with features to include a 4.3 inch “scratch-resistant and anti-reflective” qHD display, dual-core 1GHz processor and 8 megapixel camera with continuos auto-focus and HD video recording. The Droid X2 will also be one of the lucky ones with a promised upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, though according to the details in the press release it will arrive with Android 2.2 Froyo and get updated at a later (and yet to be announced) date.
In addition the Droid X2 has HDMI out with Mirror Mode, Mobile Hotspot, the Swype virtual keyboard pre-installed and support for the compete range of Google goodies including Gmail, Google Maps and the Android Market. And lastly, you can also expect to find the usual array of smartphone features to include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD card slot.
