Asus Eee Pad Transformer Should Be Available In North America "Over The Coming Weeks"
We saw the Eee Pad Transformer tablet launch here in the US back on April 26th and we also saw it quickly become a device that was near impossible to find and purchase. Asus later confirmed that the shortages were due to an exceedingly high demand.

Either way, back then Asus admitted the issue and promised that we would see an increase in availability beginning in June. And well, while we are still waiting on June to arrive and actually be able to make a purchase, we have word of an update coming from Asus. Sadly though, while it is nice to see them addressing the issue again, there is little that seems to be new.
“We are ramping production every week to address the supply concerns, including almost daily air shipments into North America. We expect the supply line to improve significantly over the coming weeks.”
Bottom line, while this is an updated statement, it does not really offer much in terms of when. After all, last we heard was that things would get better in June and well, “over the coming weeks” seems to sound quite a bit like June.
Of course, while many are waiting to make a purchase, those who were lucky enough to get their hands on a Transformer are also waiting — for Android 3.1 Honeycomb. Maybe, just maybe these newly promised shipments will arrive in time for the latest version of Honeycomb, which as we saw yesterday — is set to arrive in June.
And lastly, for those still considering a purchase. The Eee Pad Transformer is priced at $399.99 (here in the US) and can will be found at a variety of retailers including Amazon and Best Buy. The Transformer is sporting a 10.1 inch (1280 x 800) IPS display with Gorilla Glass, NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI, a 4-in-1 memory card reader and a pair of cameras to include a 1.2 megapixel on the front and a 5 megapixel on the back.
