LG Optimus Pad Android Tablet Now Available With Rogers
Rogers currently has a few tablets available for sale including the BlackBerry PlayBook, Samsung Galaxy Tab and Dell Streak, however as of today they also have the exclusivity on an Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet. The latest tablet announced by Rogers is the LG Optimus Pad and it is available for purchase as of today.

The LG Optimus Pad arrives priced at $449.99 on a three year agreement. In addition there is two year, one year, month to month and standalone purchase pricing which comes in at $529.99, $599.99, $649.99 and $699.99 respectively.
In terms of the tablet itself, as previously mentioned — it is running Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Other features include an 8.9 inch (1280 x 768) WXGA capacitive touchscreen display with 15:9 aspect ratio, dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 32GB of internal storage, aGPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and HDMI out.
In addition there are two 5 megapixel cameras with 4x zoom and flash on the back which will allow for 2D and 3D video capture as well as a 2 megapixel camera on the front for video chatting. As for the size, the Optimus Pad measures in at 243 x 149.4 x 12.8 mm and weighs in at 625 grams. And as one would expect and/or hope, the Optimus Pad arrives as a fully supported Google device. In other words, one can expect to find the Google goodies such as Gmail, Google Maps, Google Talk and perhaps the most important — the Android Market. Other apps that you will find pre-installed include Rogers urMusic, Rogers On Demand Online and the Macleans and Sportsnet widgets.
All said and done, the Optimus Pad looks like it should make a nice addition to the ever growing tablet lineup with Rogers. In fact, the only point of contention we have is how they described the user interface as being PC-like.
“Android 3.0 also makes the LG Optimus Pad easy to use with a more intuitive PC-like interface.”
