Samsung Announces Gingerbread Update for Galaxy S & Galaxy Tab

Have You Been Waiting for Samsung to Update Your Galaxy S or Galaxy Tab to Gingebread? The Wait's Apparently Over

It’s always news that the Samsung Galaxy S Gingerbread is coming soon. Well, “soon” may as well be “now” as Samsung makes it official.

Samsung’s announcement involves the Gingerbread 2.3 update to various smartphone and tablet models. These include the Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab, and the Galaxy Ace, Gio, Fit or mini (depending on where you are and on your network).

According to Samsung, the Gingerbread update gives devices the following advantages:

  • Faster performance, with multimedia content now eating less CPU cycles. Better 3D graphics also improves gaming experience.
  • Upgraded usability, with faster access to popular apps. Users can also expect better copy-and-paste functionality.

Of course, Gingerbread is not exactly brand-new fresh out-of-the-box news for us. But for folks who’ve been waiting ages for Samsung to release official updates to their devices, this is definitely interesting news.
