iPhone 5 Release Date Pegged for November 21 in UK; What About the Rest of the World?

New Rumors Says Apple Will Launch the iPhone 5 on November 21 in the UK After a September Next-gen iPhone Announcement

We have an interesting iPhone 5 rumor for you today which happens to be the first one out there that’s ready to actually offer us a precise release date for Apple’s next-gen smartphone.

So far we heard that Apple will not announce the iPhone 5 (or iPhone 4S for that matter) at the WWDC 2011 event, which is dedicated to iOS 5 and Mac OS X Lion. We also heard that Apple will turn its usual fall media event into an iPhone event rather than an iPod/Music-only press event, and that’s when the iPhone 5 will be announced. After that the phone will be launched gradually in more and more markets across the world, which is something we’ve seen Apple do with its previous iPhones and iPads in the past.

Therefore we were already expecting to see the iPhone 5 become available from plenty of carriers and electronics retailers by Christmas 2011 even if we were lacking actual release dates.

Today, thanks to UK-based T3, we hear that Apple will launch the iPhone 5 on November 21 in the UK, although we have no other details for other markets. In case Apple will stage a joint U.S.-UK iPhone 5 launch then yes, the iPhone 5 could also be launched on the very same date in the USA, although, at this point, I wouldn’t put too much trust into that launch window. After all, there’s no way of actually confirm it yet, and it’s way too early to have such details out in the open.

The news is based on a customer sales representative of Phones4u, who has it that Apple’s next-gen smartphone will be fairly similar to the iPhone 4 (therefore an iPhone 4S?) with different software. That person says that the new iPhone will “be pretty much the same as the iPhone 4 with new software. The software is the main difference with the iPhone 5.” But see, this is where we have a major issue with that statement. The iPhone 4 will run the same software as the iPhone 5, which will be an iOS 5 version, so saying that the difference between the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 is in software alone would be as strange as claiming that the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 are running different OS versions.

And how would one customer sales representative at Phones4u know that the next iPhone is coming on November 21 in the first place considering the secretive way Apple conducts its business?

We will note that over the last few days we’ve seen plenty of iPhone 5-related rumors, most of them pointing to an iPhone 4S kind of device, and we expect to see even more leaks and rumors in the following weeks, as WWDC 2011 gets closer and closer. We’ll certainly keep our eyes peeled for more iPhone 5 rumors, so keep following our feed and Twitter accounts if you want to find out more about Apple’s future iPhone 5 plans.
