HTC Thunderbolt Gingerbread Update Gets Leaked, Still Not Official
As you already know, most Android devices out there, from mid-ranged to high-end, are getting ready to be upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, although, at this point, we’re still waiting for official release dates for most of them. One such device is HTC’s only LTE-capable smartphone, the Thunderbolt, which will get Android 2.3 at some point in the near future.

In the mean time, those of you not patient enough to keep waiting for HTC and Verizon to release the new software update could always install the leaked Gingerbread build, which is now available for the masses to download.
As always there’s a bit of work related when going through such procedures yourself. What you need is a rooted HTC Thunderbolt in the first place, and then you’ll want to follow the instructions provided by the xda-developers, and available below, to the core:
Fair warning, this is a first build off it, maybe buggy.
Disclaimer, if this breaks your phone, ruins your life, causes anykind of hard or damager, not my fault.

Naturally, you’ll be the only person responsible for whatever happens once you decide to go through with rooting your HTC Thunderbolt and upgrading it to Android 2.3 (note, the guide above only covers flashing Gingerbread to the pre-rooted Thunderbolt). In case you’re not comfortable with any of this then you’d better stick to your current Froyo version on the Thunderbolt and wait for the official upgrade to come around.
