Three New HP Pavilion Desktops Emerge

The HP Pavilion p4, Pavilion Slimline s5 and Pavilion HPE h8 Go On Sale Directly With Variety Of Options

For all of you out there who think we’re actually in the post-PC era, you’ve got a little extra reason to doubt that today as HP, the company that’s still gunning for Apple’s slot in the “cool” market and making some pretty exciting moves in that direction, announces three new additions to its HP Pavilion lineup of desktops, each with a variety of features.

First up, we’ve got the budget-friendly model, the HP Pavilion p7. But despite the fact that it’s clearly pitched toward the more casual user, it’s still set to offer “generous” hard drive space and support for multichannel surround sound, which not so long ago was a premium option. Also set to offer is “premium graphics”, though what’s meant by that, they’re not saying.

The HP Pavilion Slimline s5 series, meanwhile, focuses on putting a lot of power in not a lot of space, offering a variety of configurations to get at least close to power user levels.

Lastly, there’s the HP Pavilion HPE h8 series, which is geared toward the power users, and probably because of that, is also the series HP’s willing to put out the most information about. The upper limits of these models will be available with as many as three hard drives, your choice of AMD Phenom or Intel Core i7 processors, your choice of  Nvidia or ATI graphics, and support for as many as three monitors at once. And you thought it was cool when you could use two at once!

The rest of the specifics, sadly, are being kept somewhat mum, which is doubly odd considering how soon these are coming out. You’ll be able to start picking up the p7 for a truly budget friendly $299 this Wednesday, May 18th. The powerful h8 goes on sale the same day but you’ll have to start at $599 with that one. Meanwhile, the ultra-slim s5 won’t hit for another month–June 15th–and will set you back $329 for starters.

They’re offering some pretty nice specs and probably plenty of customization options to boot, so if you’re in the market, HP may have a desktop for you. But which one of these gets your boot sector warmed up? Hit the comments section and tell us which one you’d like to get plugged in with!
