Black & White Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Heading to Verizon; Release Date Unknown

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the next hot Honeycomb tablet following closely on the heels of the Motorola Xoom. The second 10-inch iPad 2 alternative Samsung came up with to fight Apple (after the Galaxy Tab 10.1v launched at MWC 2011) is apparently getting ready to hit Verizon stores soon, and while we don’t have release dates yet for you, we do have proof that’s happening.

It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is going to be available both in white and black from Verizon, and the tablet will come in 16GB and 32GB flavors. At least that’s what recently leaked screenshots of Verizon’s inventory point to.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 appears to be codenamed SCH-I905 according to this inventory, and the device is an Android 3.0 Honeycomb “4GTablet.” Now, Samsung doesn’t have any other tablet worth talking about, and yes, we completely forgot the 7-inch model, except for the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Sure some of you could remind us that there’s also a Galaxy Tab 8.9 model official, but I will say that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the flagship tablet of Samsung right now. Why else give away 5,000 units at Google I/O to everyone attending the show? And both Samsung and Verizon, not necessarily for the same reasons, will want to sell the flagship Galaxy Tab right now.

As for that 4G LTE support, we have no idea if, and when that will happen. Verizon will certainly love to start selling as many 4G devices as possible, including tablets. We already know the Xoom will be LTE upgradeable, but does that also mean the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will also get LTE later on? Or will Samsung make a special, Verizon-exclusive, LTE-packing Galaxy Tab 10.1 version?

Samsung has an U.S.-based media event scheduled for later this month, and that’s where we might get extra details regarding its tablet plans in the USA. Anyone excited about any of the Galaxy Tab models supposed to hit stores soon?
