Amazon Kindle Tab Tablet Confirmed by Jeff Bezos, Sort Of
We have previously informed you that more and more sources are pointing to an Amazon tablet release, which we have baptized, for lack of a better name, the “Kindle Tab”, and now it looks like Amazon’s CEO, Jeff Bezos, has almost confirmed the tablet himself.

The Amazon tablet came up in an interview with Consumer Reports as Jeff Bezos advised people to “stay tuned” for more details when asked about the existence of the device. He didn’t reveal any details about the upcoming tablet, nor did he let a tablet name slip away, so we’ll keep referring to it as the Kindle Tab until further notice.
The Kindle Tab is “more likely to supplement than to supplant the Kindle, which he calls Amazon’s “purpose-built e-reading device” “. That basically means we’re looking at a full-blown tablet, which undoubtedly could act as an eReader too, but that would be able to offer a bunch of other features. In other words the Kindle Tab would be a little more expensive than the Kindle, at least that’s what we can assume, considering the fact that the tablet will supplement the eReader and those extra capabilities would drive the cost of the device upwards.
Jeff Bezos went on to detail the progress of Color E Ink, a product that’s not ready yet for “prime time” as “the colors are very pale”. That means a Color Kindle isn’t likely to be hitting stores anytime soon. In other words the Kindle Tab will not have an E Ink-based display, so will it be readable in the sunlight?
When it comes to a release date, don’t hold your breath for it hitting stores in the immediate future, since the device, once rumored to be made by Samsung, is going to enter production only at some point later this year, (maybe by Christmas?) so some waiting for it is in order. We’ll be back with more Amazon Kindle Tab tablet news in the future, so in the mean time, tablet fans, let us know how you feel about such a device hitting Amazon stores this year!
