PlayStation Network Down Update: Capcom Is Really Mad At Sony
Think you’re the only one who’s mad about the PSN outage? You’re not. Capcom Senior Vice President Christan Svensson chimed in, and the outage is making him pretty mad too. Not only is the PSN outage taking revenue from Capcom (lost game sales from PSN Store, etc.), but it’s also effecting him as a gamer.

In a post on the Capcom Unity forums, Svensson explained that he’s “frustrated and upset” by the outage for a number of reasons. He explained how he’s unable to play games online on his PlayStation 3, and added that his personal information, like everybody else’s, was potentially compromised in the intrusion.
He then added that this is personally costing Capcom. He said that this outage is costing his company “hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars in revenue.” As you may know, Capcom sells a number of things on the PSN Store, and of course, with PSN down, they won’t be meeting any sales goals this month. Obviously, it’s a bad situation for everybody involved and just another sore spot for Sony, considering that their partners could be hit hard by this.
And regarding the hackers who allegedly caused all this by breaking into the PSN and SOE systems, Svensson echoed the comments of thousands of gamers who have left comments on our blog and others:
In short, the hackers appear to be trying to “punish” Sony for some perceived injustice, and they’ve been effective in that I suppose. But they’re also punishing millions of other consumers and businesses which makes it impossible to be sympathetic to their “cause”.
So, yes, some video game executives are just as mad at the PSN outage as you are. Sony has promised that PSN will definitely be up by May 31st, but now it looks like it could be up earlier.
