Queen Elizabeth Buys iPad 2, Impressed With Light Weight And Easy Use
Considering how many people liked hearing that the iPad 2 seems to be President Barack Obama’s platform of choice, it might be worth hearing that he’s not the only major political figure to be spotted with same. Seems that Queen Elizabeth II has also stepped in and picked up one of the popular tablets.

The story goes that she had recently invited grandsons Prince William and Prince Harry over to Buckingham Palace for some gathering of sorts (or maybe she just wanted to visit-that’s a pretty standard sort of thing for a grandmother to want to do, really, no matter what rank she holds), and they brought along their own tablets for her to have a look at while the gathering went on.
Further reports suggest that she was quite taken with the iPad 2′s lightweight design and overall ease of use, as well as the large screen.
Considering that she already possesses a mobile phone, as well as a complement of iPods, it makes sense that she look into getting an iPad 2, and at last report, did just that. Sources actually put the queen as saying that she believes it will be a great source of entertainment on long trips, something many other iPad / iPad 2 users have already discovered themselves.
Admittedly, they’re just picking up on stuff we’ve long since known about the tablet computing industry, though I can’t help but notice its popularity among major political figures, especially of late. Considering that the queen could have easily picked up a Motorola Xoom or a Blackberry PlayBook, just why she went with an iPad 2 is somewhat unclear. Will there be a resulting halo effect as people realize dignitaries are fond of the Apple brand? The true impact of this yet remains to be seen, but it’s certainly something to keep watch on if Apple’s sales continue to climb in the light of these new developments.
