10.1-inch BlackBerry Tablet Coming This Holiday Season?
The BlackBerry World conference was held this week in Florida, and many were surprised to see RIM not announce or tease a 10-inch tablet, or even announce a 3G model of the PlayBook. Regardless, it’s now being rumored that we’ll see them come out with a 10-inch tablet this holiday season. Tech blog BGR is reporting that’s coming from multiple sources of theirs. Are you ready for a super-sized PlayBook?

According to the rumors, this 10-inch tablet could be called the “PlayBook 2”, but rather than being a second-generation PlayBook, it would just be a 10-inch version of the 7-inch version. Obviously, none of this has been confirmed by RIM, so take it as you will. 10-inches and 7-inches seem to be the two key tablet sizes right now, and I’d eventually recon that most tablet manufacturers will have a device in both sizes – maybe even Apple some day. In my role here as Senior Reviews Writer at TFTS, I’ve had an opportunity to use both sizes, and what the 7-inch tablets lose in screen size, they make up for in portability. I think both sizes have their pros and cons.
Analyst estimates and Best Buy are both claiming that the PlayBook is selling incredibly well – better than any single Android tablet. While RIM has yet to release any official numbers, hopefully that means that there will be some interest in a 10-inch PlayBook tablet.
I’m currently working on a 7-inch BlackBerry PlayBook review for this site. Keep us in your RSS readers for the latest.
