Best Buy Reports Bigger Than Expected Sales In Blackberry PlayBook
You just saw our own Kevin Schram not only promise a review of the PlayBook right here, but also fill you in on how at least one analyst was going bullish on the new Blackberry tablet. Well, said analyst no longer need feel like the lone man out as another major source chimed in a note of support for the beleaguered tablet: Best Buy.

Best Buy didn’t put any hard numbers on it, but did, however, say that the Blackberry PlayBook had “far exceeded” their expectations in terms of sales. And, perhaps not surprisingly, Best Buy further elaborated that, once customers got a chance to actually try the PlayBook out in stores, they suddenly got very interested in it.
Of course, there are plenty of factors at work here that may skew these numbers one way or the other. One, pretty much every tablet on Earth right now is currently engaged in a tooth-and-claw multi-place duel for second place behind the clear winner of the tablet race so far, the iPad 2. And the iPad 2′s overwhelming scarcity is likely driving a sort of “managed disappointment” race into the iPad 2′s many competitors, of which the Blackberry PlayBook is one.
Two, note that Best Buy says that, once people try the PlayBook, they find themselves liking it. Let’s not forget that tablet computing is still a relatively new form of computing, one that many likely haven’t even tried yet. So once they go hands on with a tablet, they may discover they like it, and buy the thing they tried that they discovered they liked.
Still though, things might be looking better for the PlayBook than were originally envisioned, so it’s a tablet that we’ll all need to keep an eye on. And thankfully, Kevin’s review should be ready in the not too distant future, so keep it right here for the latest.
