Motorola Tegra / Droid Bionic to Come With Laptop Dock Support?
Motorola announced the Atrix 4G at CES 2011 and the phone impressed the crowds mostly with its unexpected accessories, especially the Laptop Dock. But then Motorola decided to set a price tag for the Atrix 4G and Laptop Dock bundle out of most people’s reach, which made the device fade from our memories.

But that doesn’t mean Motorola will give up making such accessories for its upcoming Android smartphones. In fact it makes some sense to offer Laptop Dock support to its upcoming Android handsets and that’s exactly what Motorola will do in the future.
CEO Sanjay Jha said, during Motorola’s last earnings conference call, that the company will have a bunch of devices compatible with the Laptop Dock in the second half of the year. One such device may very well be the Motorola Droid Bionic / Targa, as this LTE smartphone has been postponed for later this year in order to be improved. Said improvements could also include Laptop Dock support, as this particular accessory could be a great tool to have around a 4G-capable device.
Unfortunately we don’t have any dependable evidence to suggest that indeed the Targa will get the Laptop Dock upgrade, nor do we know what other Android handsets will also have Webtop docking support, since Motorola never revealed its smartphone roadmap.
As for the price of the Laptop Dock bundle, which is probably what prevented Motorola from having a great product in AT&T stores, well it looks like the company is going to reconsider the whole pricing scheme in order to address “both the enterprise premium tier as well as more consumer tiers.” The CEO also confirmed that the Atrix 4G Lapotp Dock bundle will see a price cut later this month, a move that should convince some folks to choose this particular smartphone found in AT&T’s inventory.
