iPad 2 & iPhone 4 iOS 5 Testing Going On As We Speak, Other iDevices Used Too

iOS Developers Notice Heavy iOS 5 Testing Ahead of WWDC 2011; iPhone 3GS & iPod touch 3G Also Supported?

WWDC 2011 will not bring the iPhone 5 to the world as this year’s popular Apple conference will star iOS 5 and Mac OS 10.7 Lion. In fact it turns out that Cupertino is doing quite a bit of testing when it comes to its mobile OS as various developers have spotted iOS 5 in the wild already, not that we’re surprised to see such reports come to life.

We have no idea what iOS 5 will really have to offer just yet although I’m sure all iDevice owners already have a bunch of suggestions lined-up for Apple and therefore have high hopes regarding certain aspects of this mobile OS. In the mean time it looks like Apple is testing the new firmware on most of its current devices, whether we’re talking about the iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.

There’s no sign of iPhone 5 testing yet, but we can only assume that Apple’s latest mobile devices, the iPhone 5 and iPad 2, followed by the iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G and iPad 1 will have no problem using all of the latest features of iOS 5. As for the iPhone 3GS and the iPod touch 3G, it’s still unknown whether Apple will also bump them to iOS 5 when the time comes. These two 2009 devices have also been spotted in iOS 5 tests, but that doesn’t mean they’ll necessarily run the software later in summer. After all, let’s remember that updating the iPhone 3G to iOS 4 wasn’t the best idea Apple could have had and a similar mistake might not be repeated, granted that it would create some sort of fragmentation issues with iOS.

We’ll be back with more iOS 5 news and features the minute we have them, but, in the mean time, let us know what you expect from the new Apple mobile OS version in the comments section below!
