Watch Elise 'Evolve' In New SSX Developer Diary

New SSX Developer Diary Takes A Look At Updates The Folks At EA Sports Are Making To Your Favorite SSX Characters

Fans of the old-school SSX titles may have gotten their way after the outcry over EA Sports’ plans to reboot the series with a more gritty and realistic take on snowboarding, but we’re still going to have to put up with some changes when the new title releases next year. Namely, the days of seeing characters snowboard down hills at 70 miles per hour in only a windbreaker or T-shirt (or bikini) are behind us, as the game’s developers explain in the latest developer diary.

The developers talk about the updates they’re making to classic SSX characters, but they really only show us the “evolution” of one: Elise. I know that a lot of people like Elise, but I’ve never been a big fan. Truth be told, I’m more of a Psymon guy myself, but it’s still cool to see how the folks at EA Sports are updating the characters for this generation of consoles.

We also get a hint of gameplay footage at the very end of the dev diary, so if you’re only watching for that sort of things, get ready for a treat because you’re in for a whole five second of it. Even though it’s a brief glimpse of a game that’s still in the early stage of development, it looks like it’s retaining that SSX charm we all know and love, and this reboot has quickly gone from a disappointment to a title to watch.

SSX is due out sometime in early 2012 for Xbox 360 and PS3. Enjoy the dev diary!
